Types of payment
The prices displayed on the products and services in Cuba are in Cuban Convertible Pesos (CUC) and all are only payable in CUC, including transport.
It is the same for the payment of the departure tax , which is payable at all airports, when leaving Cuba.
When converting US Dollars to CUC a service charge of 10% will apply. This service fee is however not applicable when buying CUC with any other acceptable foreign currency, such as Canadian dollars , the euro , sterling and the Swiss franc . One Cuban Convertible Peso (CUC) equals 25 national pesos , the currency used by Cubans.
Visa and Master Card credit cards, when issued by Canadian financial institutions are accepted in most hotels and other goverment managed restaurants in Cuba.
